Evaluation Of Internship Programs Abroad At Universities In Indonesia: A Case Study Of Indonesian Intern Students In Japan
Author

Dr. Pitri Haryanti, S.Pd., M.Pd.

Abstrak
The purpose of this study is to evaluate internship programs in Japan held by Japanese departments at universities in Indonesia as an implementation of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture's policy on independent study on campuses in 2020, examining the students’ culture shock level and the difficulties they encountered during the internship program. This study used a mixed-methods approach with case studies. We used quantitative data to measure the students’ culture shock level, and qualitative data to uncover the difficulties they encountered. Data were collected through a questionnaire, and a semi-structured interview with 100 intern students took place. This research found that Indonesian intern students’ culture shock was at a moderate level and encountered difficulties due to language, job performance, Japanese work culture, negative local attitude toward intern students, and the intern's personalities such as low adaptability and lack of confidence. This study also found that all of the students at each level of culture shock faced difficulties in performing jobs because of their low Japanese ability and work culture differences, but student personalities and locals’s responses are the determinants of the student’s culture shock level. The implications of this study highlight the need for an evaluation of Japanese language and culture learning curricula and methods in Indonesia.

Febry Maharlika, M.Sn

Abstrak
This study examines the aesthetic value of sand beds in Kampung Kasur Pasir,East Legung Village, Sumenep, Madura, by comparing the aesthetic perspectives of the Western and Eastern worlds. Sand beds are a unique cultural phenomenon that blends natural elements with local traditions, creating a rich aesthetic experience for the local community. From a Western perspective, the aesthetics of sand beds can be analyzed through the concept of visual harmony in both form and content. Meanwhile, from an Eastern perspective, sand beds represent spiritual balance and a harmonious relationship between humans, nature, and the Creator. The findings reveal that sand beds serve not only as a place for rest but also as a medium of aesthetic expression that integrates cultural, emotional, and spiritual elements. This multidisciplinary approach highlights how local aesthetic values can contribute significantly to the global understanding of aesthetics. This study aims to enrich the discourse on beauty within the context of local traditions while offering new insights into the interaction between culture and aesthetics from diverse perspectives.

Irfan Dwiguna Sumitra, S.Kom., M.Kom. Ph.D Dr. Senny Luckyardi, S. P., M.M.

Abstrak
This research aims to contribute to the fuzzy system to determine whether flood-prone areas are susceptible to flooding. The Mamdani fuzzy system for flood preparedness using toolbox simulation is focused on identifying the initial parameters that affect the communities regarding the weather conditions. However, the linguistic characteristics were categorized based on input and output using the aggregate data collected for a few Indonesian provinces, and the result was the secure, alert, or hazardous region. The performance of the developed Mamdani fuzzy model was verified in the dataset under test. The result of this method informed the communities and highest priority to be evacuated according to a fuzzy multicriteria analysis and help policymakers better understand a complicated situation in the pre-alert phase and assess the absolute need for urban zone evacuation by a limited but representative set of criteria.
