Development Of Design System For Software Engineering Laboratory (Case Study In UNIKOM Codelabs Laboratory)

Abstrak

Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) has various tools to support its administrative activities. Each existing system has multiple characteristics and behaviors. In terms of design aspects, it still follows the standards of each developer team because there is no designer team for making the system design. Thus, the existing system in UNIKOM does not have a consistent design identity. Therefore, the developer team need a design framework to help developers speed up the user interface design process. The design system is a design framework that can help speed up and simplify the design and development process in achieving product goals by providing a code library, UI library, and style guide. This research methodology refers to the Atomic Design method for building the system design. This research result is a documentation system design as a guide in designing the user interface in the CodeLabs laboratory. The average performance value that meets the test objectives is obtained based on the resulting system design test results. The average weight of completing the task is 95%, and it has passed the target test objective of 80%. In addition, the average time required to complete all tasks is reduced. Thus, it can be concluded that using a design system can accelerate and facilitate designers in designing software.
